Background 

Mamre agriculture and Livestock College was established in 2014 by Roman Catholic church of Njombe diocese. The institute is located in wanging’ombe district about 102km north of Njombe regional headquarter. One of the reasons of its establishment was due to shortage of agricultural extension staffs who located in the rural areas.

However was also the response to national agriculture policy for the private sector to work in collaboration with the government for promotion of food security to its people by increase agricultural professionals.

The school was formerly running “farmers training center course” before being upgraded to train for certificate course in agriculture general, by September 2015. The main aim for the establishment of this school was to give training so that to cover big shortage of agriculture extension staff which was existing, especially in rural areas found in wanging’ombe, Ludewa, and Makete districts.                       Read More
